Wembury Marine Centre, near Plymouth, will be celebrating World Oceans Day this week with a rockpool ramble on Saturday 7 June.
Wembury beach is one of the best places to go rockpooling in the UK.
The ramble will start at 2.30pm from the Centre. The event costs £1 for adult, 50p for children and £2.50 per family. The event is open to anyone but children must be accompanied by an adult.
World Oceans Day started in 1992 at the Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. It is a chance for the world to celebrate all things related to the sea. World Oceans Day is always on June 8 and it is often celebrated on the weekend closest to that date. This year's theme is 'Helping our climate/helping our ocean'.
Devon Wildlife Trust's Cat Ridout who runs the Centre in south Devon, said: "World Oceans Day is a great excuse to get out to your local beach and find out more about what is living there. We use it as a chance to show people all the fantastic marine life you can find in our local rockpools.
"Climate change is increasingly becoming an issue for our seas and we all need to do more to help wildlife adapt to the changing conditions.
"One of the easiest things people can do to help is to follow the Seashore Code when they visit the coast. The code reminds people to take all their litter home and leave the rockpools as they find them."
Wembury Marine Centre features a marine jukebox, marine fish tanks, a computer game and jigsaws for the kids and information on the marine environment for all ages.
The Centre is overseen by the Wembury partnership made up of Devon Wildlife Trust, Devon County Council, South Hams District Council and the National Trust and last year attracted over 20,000 visitors.
